Inter-Regional Youth Circuit Championships – Sunday 8 September 2019

The South Region extends a warm welcome to the Castle Combe Circuit (Chippenham, SN14 7EY) to compete for the title of 2019 Inter-Regional Circuit Champions.

For those that have been to the circuit before, please do not use either the Competitors’ Entrance or the Chippenham Road Entrance on the B4039 – there is a car boot sale organised and access will be unavailable. Instead, please use the Camp Entrance (Red Gate) which will be identified by Cycle Event signs on the day. Parking is available on all of the area highlighted in red after the Camp Entrance – there will be marshals on the day to ensure sensible parking.

To ensure that all riders have a safe environment in which to race and that none of those attending the car boot sale interfere with proceedings the entire circuit will be locked down for the sole use of the Inter-Regional Championships. Once cars have been parked (and locked), team Gazebos and other equipment will need to be carried onto the circuit. Access will be solely via the Strawford Centre – walk to the left of the Avon Tyres footbridge (sign posted on the day) past the Media Centre and Race Control Tower. For those that do not have a BC Membership Card or a Race Licence, please print off the first sheet of the programme (this page) to gain access in and out of the Strawford Centre.

Points Allocation

·        The Team Time Trial and Circuit Race results will be awarded points as below.

·        Points are focused to reward podium positions for all events.

·        The first three riders from each team in the circuit race will count toward that team’s points total.

·        The overall points total will be that recorded for the TTT, plus the team total from the circuit race and then minus the points awarded for any of the sprints.

·        For example: Team X gains 21 points from the TTT (5th); in the Circuit Race the first three riders from Team X are placed (8th = 10 points, 14th = 16 points and 22nd = 24 points) giving a total of 50 points. Team X combined total from the TTT and Circuit Race = 71 points. Additionally, one of the riders from Team X manages to gain a total of 13 sprint bonus points during the Circuit Race; these are then subtracted from the team’s total (71 – 13 = 58). The overall team total = 58.

·        The team with the lowest overall score wins.

·        If there are teams on overall equal points, the result will count back on the best placed rider position at the finish of the circuit race.
